Rick Steves' Village Italy was a trip of a lifetime.  While I appreciated the planned activities and the education provided by the knowledgeable guides, I also relished the independence the unstructured time allowed.  The trip could not have been a success without our guide, Sarah.  I have not forgotten her little Italian language lessons during the bus rides and the timely treats she provided throughout the tour.  She empowered and encouraged us to be confident travelers.  After this trip, I feel that I can explore any place on my own.

One of Rick's advise that has always stayed with me is to pace yourself and to assume that you will come back.  He is right.  I am returning to Italy in September.   I will spend one week exploring parts of Italy on my own before joining another Rick Steves' tour.  I will utilize the skills I honed on the last trip and keep on traveling.
